Types of Therapy
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment to explore their feelings, thoughts, or behaviors, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward their desired change.
Couples Therapy
Process through which a couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, or partnered) works with a trained therapist to identify specific areas to work towards improved relational functioning. Couples explore how their individual contexts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors may be impacting their relationship in both positive and negative ways. Additionally, the couple may explore child rearing, incorporating boundaries with external family members, sex and intimacy, and repairing bonds.
Family Therapy
Designed for families to nurture change and development. Families may be in crisis, experiencing transitional issues, increased interpersonal conflict, or simply desire a more pleasant home environment. Family Therapy emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. Marriage and Family Therapists often agree that the individual is one part of a larger family unit therefore to best support the individual bringing the family in, when possible, is ideal.
